Trips begin at 6:00 AM, launching from Hopedale Highway in St. Bernard, and take place aboard a 23’ Tidewater bay boat that’s built for inshore waters. With room for up to four passengers, the boat is equipped with the gear and setup needed for a focused day of fishing. Rods, reels, and artificial lures are included, and live bait may be used depending on the plan — check with your captain before launch day. Families and kids are welcome, and Jason makes it a priority to create a safe, easygoing experience for younger anglers. Mother Nature gave me a  lil( Father's Day) retreat for myself n my wife down in Hopedale,La . The winds been horrible lately from the SW and really stiff.  I didn't want to run around to find any trout in the conditions and chose to scout some interior marsh for  some other  decent  fish. Clean moving water and bait was the ticket today. 
The amount of juvenile redfish we caught was insane and shows that we have a strong  population of  breeding redfish in our area alone. The Specked Trout that most of us down here have catching has been very healthy , lots of them in the 20+ range and lots of juveniles aswell.

Clean Water and Moving Bait Reveal Hopedale’s Healthy Redfish Population

Father’s Day offered a perfect opportunity for a local retreat to Hopedale, Louisiana. Despite persistent and stiff winds blowing from the southwest, the day proved productive by focusing on the interior marsh rather than hunting for trout in open water.

Finding clean, moving water paired with active baitfish proved to be the key to success. The marsh is currently holding an impressive number of juvenile redfish, which is a promising sign for the health and sustainability of the local breeding population.

In addition to the redfish activity, the speckled trout remain very healthy. Anglers are consistently seeing large numbers of quality fish in the 20-inch-plus range, along with plenty of juvenile trout present in the system. It is a great time to be out on the water, provided you locate the right conditions and bait movement.

This crew was so excited to fish with me, they picked me because of the boat. The kids were so intuned to my instructions they caught more than the dads. They had linked to the Bluetooth and got to play their own playlist, Capt Jason had surprise bags of candy onboard, and best of all they were able to sit in the Capt. Seat . So so much fun with this crew .
